Building your wardrobe basics, also known as wardrobe essentials, can be done in 3 easy steps. Don't rush the process! If you're on a budget you can definitely build slowly. Remember since these are your basics and essentials these should be timeless pieces. That means you can invest and splurge on these items because they will carry you throughout the years.

How To Build Your Wardrobe Basics
1. Clean & purge your closet.
The first thing you want to do is see what you have, what you're actually wearing, and get rid of the clutter. There’s no need in hanging on to clothes you haven’t worn in years. 2. Make a list of the basics you are missing.
Once your closet has been purged and organized make a list of the basics you are missing. Check out my post, Top 10 Basics That Every Woman Needs In Her Closet. I find it better to have a visual of the items you need to buy. I also find it very satisfying when I get to cross an item off the list! 3. Plan to add in a piece or 2 every month.
Depending on your budget you should buy an item or two every month to help build your wardrobe. Even if you have to buy an item every other month, the most important thing is to have your list and to stay focused until you have purchased all of the items on your list. I know it’s probably more exciting to go out and buy the latest trends, but trust me when I say your wardrobe will go a lot further when you have the basics.
